How to address your CFA designation?

I have cleared all levels of CFA exams. However, I haven’t earned the charter yet. I do not have the required work experience. I don’t know how to mention this in short in my resume/CV. I know CFA has strict guidelines. A student who is going to give the CFA level 3 exam can say he is a CFA level 3 candidate. Similarly, I what am I? A CFA charter candidate? Please someone help me with this.

You can mention “Passed all levels of the CFA Program; pending charter due to work experience requirement” on your resume. This clearly states your status without violating CFA guidelines.

“I passed all three levels of the CFA exam and will
be eligible for the CFA charter upon completion of
the required work experience."
If you want something shorter,
passed all three levels of the CFA exam.

I would not use the “eligible for CFA charter” portion.
You can just say “CFA® Program, Level 3 Passed”, or something like that.

CFAI really doesn’t like it when you imply that you will eventually become a charterholder, as if it’s some kind of guarantee.
Just say the factual part that you’ve passed all three levels, and leave out the future part which is uncertain.

the wording I used is that suggested by CFAI,
see Exhibit 1 (two thirds down the page) which provides examples of proper and improper references to the CFA designation.

Hm, interesting, I haven’t seen that one before.

Looks like it’s fair game then.

Thanks everyone, all these replies clarified my understanding. I think I will go forward with this “Passed all three levels of the CFA Program and may be awarded the charter upon completion of the required work experience.”

You can write CFA exams completed (charter pending work experience) or CFA Level I, II, III passed, awaiting work experience for charter." This keeps it clear and concise!
