I have been meaning to become a full time trader. I find it pretty intriguing.
Now i am studying Chartered Accountancy Course in India and working as a Trainee in a CA Firm, will hopefully be completing it next year. Besides i passed my CFA Level II last june. Now i think in addition CMT designation would be a cherry on top.
Now i am not clear about what qualification/ education would be sufficient if i wana get into proprietary trading or become a full time trader, and how could i start off with a career in this industry!
Well, accounting could be of use if you want to get into trading stocks on fundamentals but what itera said is exactly the kind of question your interviewer will pose to you.
The reason why traders focus a lot on your motivation is because it’s not easy and you need to absolutely love this business to survive the tougher phases. Accountancy is probably the last thing you need to be a trader.
i know a guy who is with topstep…he gets 80% of the profits. he only does for couple hours in the morning and done trading around 9am PST then off to his full time job…
