To be fair, he also beat three NFC playoff teams (one of which was a dominant Packers team), on the road, each time on the way to the super bowl.
sometimes i wonder if you actually watch any football outside of the cowboys. Bennett has 4 TDs and 3 of them came in 1 game so in the other 11 weeks he has 1 TD. The black unicorn is not having a great year.
rivers is def a HOF and better than the other 2. its a shame he tore his acl and LT blew out his knew before the afccg
^Agreed with Higgs on the “rings not make one great” aphorism.
I was going to bring up the Big Ben & Eli vs. Rivers & Romo argument, but I got sidetracked by my daughter’s fun run at school
If either Rivers or Romo find themselves on the receiving end of two rings, they’ll be locked for the HoF. (Add Carson Palmer to the list, too.)
Rivers piling up yards in one meaningless game after another is not an accomplishment. He doesn’t deserve any HoF recognition, neither do Eli and Ben (although those 2 are going in because enough voters will be impressed by their rings). Stafford is a no go in my book too.
HoF means the best at your craft. The definition to me is top 10%, which is top 3. Manning, Brady and Brees are deserving. Most likely Rodgers if he doesn’t get injured.
I know we live in an era where we like to give a trophy to every little Timmy for participating, but let’s have some standards. Hopefully the AF HoF is more stringent.
Question - Who’s the WORST quarterback in the following list?
Dan Fouts
Fran Tarkenton
Donovan McNabb
Warren Moon
Jim Kelly
Troy Aikman
I would argue that Aikman is the worst QB on the list, but on pretty much every single “greatest QB ever” on the internet, he’s ranked above all the others. One list even has him as high as #5 greatest of all time. And the only reason is because he won three rings.
Had he played for the Eagles and Randall Cunningham played for the Cowboys, then Aikman would be a forgotten name in history, and Cunningham would be #5 on the GOAT list.
(And this is coming from a Cowboys fan.)
Interesting you mention Tarkenton.

Aw shit.
Von Miller say:
_ Toughest Tight End: Rob Gronkowski There’s not a more dominant tight end right now than Gronkowski. But he’s not just dominant as a receiver— he’s the total package. I think his blocking is underrated. This term is almost overused in the media now, but Gronk really is a true game-changer. He’s almost like LeBron James in that his body type and skill set has never been seen before at his position. The NFL has never seen anything like his combination of size, speed and hands. …_
Meanwhile, Kelce leads the league in yards and may break a record for consecutive 100 yard games by a TE if he can do it for a 5th time against the Titans on Sunday.
He must not have said that in the past couple of weeks, since Gronk has been out for at least two weeks now. And he’s on season-ending IR.
Let me put this another way–I suspect that for the rest of the season, I will have just as many TD catches as Gronk. But since I’m not on IR, I can still suit up in a game. Which makes me the better player.
Since we’re on the subject of what defenders think, here’s what Darren Woodson (Dallas Cowboy’s all-time leading tackler and current ESPN analyst) says about Jason Witten:
“You cannot tell me there’s a better tight end to ever play the game, Woodson said, “I look at Tony Gonzalez. He wouldn’t block a soul. A soul. Great, dynamic in the passing game, runs great routes, but won’t block a soul. Antonio Gates, turn the film on of him. He won’t touch a soul. You already know Jimmy Graham won’t block anybody. This guy (Witten), not only is he a great pass catcher, but he’ll do everything. He lines up on the edge. He’ll reach block you. He’ll cut you off. He’ll motion in the backfield. He’ll lead draw you as a fullback. He does everything. He’s a complete tight end.”
That’s complete bullshit. Google “Tony Gonzalez blocking” and you’ll get several articles calling him a great blocker and this one quote from Woodson. Granted, it took a few years for Tony to get the hang of it, but he became a great blocker.
^I knew you were going to take offense to that.
It just surprised me how quick you were to the punch.
^I love that man.
When did he say that? Curious that there’s no mention of Gronk, who by most accounts blocks like a train and can very obviously catch the ball. Although it’s very difficult to compare players across eras, a discussion of TE’s that also excludes Sharpe, Winslow, Ditka and Mackey is incomplete.
Love how Turd quotes an adversary of Gronk and Greenman quotes a past Cowboys player (who like Witten played his entire career with the team). That about sums this entire ridiculous topic up, now doesn’t it?
No. I’ll sum it up for you:
There are 16 games in an NFL season. Gronk will only suit up for 8 of them, and will only have a meaningful presence in 5 of them.
In other words, Gronk will play less than 1/3 of the regular season.
Jason Witten will have a more productive season, because he will (probably) play in every single game…like he has for the past 13 years.
So Brett Favre > Every Other Player in NFL History?
BTW, Witten has not technically played in every single game for the past 13 years. He only played 15 games his rookie season.
Note, kickers and punters don’t count as NFL players. That’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it.
What is the definition of “meaningful presence”? Because for as hard as you keep beating this dead horse, you cannot escape the fact that ROB GRONKOWSKI HAS SCORED MORE TOUCHDOWNS THAN JASON WITTEN. In wayyyyyyyyyyyy less games. Like so many less it’s embarrassing. Isn’t scoring points the object of the game? To eventually win a super bowl ring? Gronk wins both metrics! Ahahaha. Happy Friday.
