Important things to remember for the exam

Read the WHOLE question. Think about what the question is asking and showing!!! The mind plays tricks.

Agreed!

Bring pencils, your ticket, ad a calculator. By now, you know it or you don’t! Come in refreshed and relaxed.

International travel document is must as a proof of identification. --> NEW 2011

"Sir - Your number 2 pencil says number 2. That is a violation of the cfa institute code of conduct. -10 percent off your score. "

I think current sitting doesnt need an international passport for identification purpose yet? It’s still using government issued photo id, right?

Depends on if you registered before/after Jan 1, 2011. Way too late to be figuring this out now.

Just remember to follow the stricter of of the local or cfa institute guidelines - aka just bring the highest you have. 1) passport 2) drivers license

  1. DO NOT SCREW UP ON “MOST LIKELY” / “LEAST LIKELY”. THAT IS THE MOST STUPID MISTAKE ANYONE CAN DO. (I NEED TO REMIND THIS MYSELF AGAIN AND AGAIN). GOES BACK TO “READ THE QUESTION!” 2. RANDOMLY START MARKING ALL UNANSWERED QUESTIONS 5 MINS BEFORE THE END, AND PUT DOWN YOUR PENCIL AT LEAST 2 MINS BEFORE THE END. 3. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE CONTENTS OF YOU POCKET SO THAT YOU DONT CARRY ANYTHING NOT ALLOWED.

Do not pull a duh and confuse earnings per share for price/earnings. Yes I did this on an end of chapter and was kicking myself. Read people READ!!!

^^^ Same !! If they give you Price/share, EBITDA, # of shares outstanding, then: Price/EBITDA = (Price/Share) / (EBITDA/# of shares of outstanding)

Don’t jump to conclusions. RTFQ -> READ THE F&CKING QUESTION. ALWAYS

Rubber/eraser. Imagine not being able to change answers? Also make sure your ticket prints out properly. For level 1 mine hadn’t and I frantically had to find somewhere to reprint the morning of the exam.

Make sure you know how you will be going to the centre; where you will park if you take your car, and what hall it exactly is in. The place i will give in had ~8 halls, and it may take 10 minutes to go from one end to the other, so know your centre During the test STOP when they ask you to stop.

Drink a caramel macchiato triple shot with caramel on top… start with the topic you know the most (Equity/FSA/Economics/Portfolio) … and check if they’re gona slam us with a merger vignette … I wonder how people pass without referring to CFAI books… especially EOC… Good luck … I shall be done with the exam in 24 hrs!! then im taking a longggg nap and hopefully celebrate at night by a longer nap lol

And to add to MMI’s comment - I am testing in chicago and if you don’t get to your car FAST after the exam be prepared to wait forever in parking garage traffic.

I want to be perfectly clear about this: I have registered before January 1, 2011. I am writing in Toronto. Do I still need to bring my passport, or can I bring my driver’s license? My passport is at my cottage, two hours away. I do not want to take the risk of not being allowed to write the exam. Someone please fill me in.

If you registered before January 1, 2011 I would not worry about passport: http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprogram/process/Pages/cfa_program_id_policy_change.aspx
