Hi, I wanted to ask how do I break into asset management as an entry level. I have just graduated in July of this year with a Bsc Economics. I am planning to give the Cfa in February. I have been applying to off cycle internships but no luck so far. Most roles are graduate roles which I assume to be only for people who have just graduated. I am also considering to take this year as a gap year and do a masters in sept 2025 and then apply for graduate jobs. Kindly suggest what I should do as I feel really lost at the current moment.
Focus on applying for internships, network with professionals, and gain certifications like CFA to strengthen your resume. Taking a gap year for a master’s can also be a strategic move to boost your qualifications.

Most internships are for students and not graduates. A lot of the graduate schemes are also for recent graduates and not graduates that have graduated already for a while. How do you think I should strategise my job search now.
Consider gaining relevant experience through internships, even if unpaid, to build your network and skills while preparing for the CFA exam. If applying for graduate roles, also explore entry-level positions in finance or related fields to strengthen your profile before applying for graduate jobs after your master’s.
