Hi, I just took the CFA L3 exam last weekend and am interested in taking the CAIA L1 exam this Sept. Do you think 3 months of studying is enough time? I’m hoping there’s some overlap between CAIA / CFA that will help save me some time from studying every corner of the CAIA material. Any opinions? Thanks!!
CAIA-L1 has been said to be easier than CFA-L1. 3 months is more then enough time, its almost to much time. CAIA-L2 is a different story, more comparable to upper CFA levels (or so people say). I am taking CAIA-L1 in September, I have both course textbooks and Schweser notes. There is very little overlap with CFA, but it is interesting none-the-less.
Thanks for your input. Do you think I can get by w/ just using Schweser study notes + Q bank questions? I’m going to fund this on my own, and those CAIA recommended/required textbooks are quite expensive. Thanks!

Yes I am also funding everything on my own, but I wanted an added exposure to the material, it’s really good stuff. And yes, by all means you can get by on just the Schweser notes. Good thing about this exam is you get a formula sheet, and quant is heavily weighted.
I passed CAIA lvl one using Schweser notes 99% of the time and scored more than 70% on each topic. I would highly recommend the Schweser materials for the lvl 1 exam. The exam formular sheet does nothing but confuses you and if you need to dip into that sheet during the exam then it can only mean one thing; you have under prepared. The large chunk of Quant is, to be honest, not many number calculation and maybe more on theory.
I just ordered my schweser study notes! If anyone is selling the curriculum readings (other than ethics handbook), let me know. Thanks!
Hi, I also appeared for CFA level 3 this june. I am planning to register for CAIA level 1 this september. I am also planning for FRM this year as this is the last time we can kill that monster at one shot. Not sure whether this will be too tight? I just browsed through the CAIA material, it seems 30-40% we have already covered during the CFA. I guess 1 month’s preparation is enough for CAIA L1, given you have solid understanding of the concepts learned during CFA. Any thoughts on that?
I am only going to study for 1 month and 9 days for CAIA L1. I think it should be enough.
I am studying for about 2 months 2 weeks. The quant section is no joke, and I really enjoy the material. I wouldn’t take it for granted, but I wouldn’t over-study either. 150 hours should do.
