Islamic State's Finances Cut by 30% From Last Year

… oil?

I can’t believe people actually thought those street thugs were a menace to the existence of the Western world.

^ They aren’t an issue anymore because Putin was dropping bombs on them. Until he got involved and upped the effort including ground troops, ISIL was gaining territory.

^ but I don’t understand why US and its allies work with Russia for common goal to wipe out isis from this earth.

^ I’m guessing you meant to say you don’t know why they don’t work together? Well, because their aims are very different. Russia is aligned with Iran/Syria, and has been since the revolution. U.S./NATO is more aligned with the Sunnis in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia doesn’t like Assad, Putin does. So the end game for the two sides is different. ISIL was an inconvenient and unforeseen consequence of Obama’s policy to support Sunni radicals in overthrowing established secular dictatorships in the Middle East. While in some cases slightly insane people like Muslim Brotherhood took over, in Syria and Northern Iraq this became something much worse.

Of course ISIS is still a menace to the Western world. They won’t wipe out the UK or something major like that, but they are a nuisance for sure. When I go through TSA now, I get molested by 5 big dudes. This never happened before 9/11. Even Top 2 terrorism companies have to be realistic and take goals step by step. Causing minor conveniences to 300 million people in the US is a pretty big achievement as far as trolling is concerned. On a more serious note, they create or inspire incidents like Belgium or France bombings. Overall, these are not high in lethality compared to car accidents or diabeetus. However, they are still meaningful to public psyche and the sense of personal well being in these countries.
