Sure, there are jobs for people with all kinds of different educations. But if you mean you will have a better chance of getting the job you want with the CAIA charter then i guess it depends on what that job exactly is. If it is something with alternative investments it might slightly increase your chances…

I just did a test, not a very scientific one mind. I searched for CAIA on efinancial careers UK. The search returned 9 posts, most of which contain the words “head of”, “manager”, “senior”, “director” in the title. Having said that, 9 results are a lot more than when I first did a similar search back in 07. Which if I remember correctly returned 0 or 1. I do believe the program is about to reach critical mass, but for the market to start demanding CAIA charter holders in job ads many hiring managers would first need to have worked with charterholders to get an understanding of the program and the value it entails. From the teams that I have worked with whilst doing consulting work it was only really the teams that already had CAIA charter holder(s) that knew and/or respected the designation. Given the increasing numbers graduating from the program each year the number of hiring managers being exposed to charterholders will of course increase.
