Once China takes over do you think jobs in HK will move to States, UK, Canada, Mumbai, etc? There are hundreds of thousands expats working in HK which wouldn’t prefer to stay if the place literally becomes part of China and they start monitoring you and your family. Who would benefit the most from exodus? I think all the back office stuff would move to Mumbai but FO and MO jobs will move to other locations.
lol hong kong has been in decline in terms of relevancy. china’s cities have been outgrowing it for the last 30 years.

It’s true, but it’s still like saying NYC is in decline (true) but it’s still better than Atlanta which is outgrowing it. That said, I think this is the beginning of the end for HK. Expats and hubs will relocate to Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo among others. It’s probably true that a lot of those jobs may simply go away as companies examine costs.
