I took the paper exams for levels 1 and 2. I will take the computer based level 3 soon. Here’s the thing: I don’t use a QWERTY keyboard, I switched to another layout to increase speed and reduce/avoid repetitive stress injury. This puts me at a time disadvantage for essay questions if the testing center computers are all set up with QWERTY keyboards. Am I the only one with this problem?
Greetings, I recently took the Level 3 CBT in May. Probably it makes sense to spend some time between now and November getting general reacquaintance with QWERTY.
Having said that, it is possible that the amount of typing you will do is far less than the amount of thinking/ problem solving, so it isn’t like a speed writing thing. Bullet points etc work better than long winded answers according to everything trainers told me, so that’s how I wrote my exam (fingers crossed I didn’t blow it).
You may be at a disadvantage if you don’t spend a little time with QWERTY but you will still have a decent advantage over CFA exam takers in countries where the English alphabet and language are second or third languages. And many of those folks will pass their test in November, as I hope and am confident you will as well. You got this, cheers!
