Thinking about moving the CFA L1 for the June 5 date following the L2 CAIA exam. Anyone else doing this? Is that enough time to get through the L1 material?
This is no problem, IMHO, if you can fully concentrate on the CFA after March. I did CFA L1 and CAIA L1 last September/December. You will find some (but not most) of the CFA L1 material to be either repetition or a deeper delve into the same concepts as CAIA.
Definitely possible since the entire exam is multiple choice. Also, I bet the exam will feel a lot easier since you’ve already challenged yourself mentally up to CAIA 2. Another incentive to take it now is that you will have more time to study for CFA 2 in 2011!
Plenty of time for CFA L1, you will have the CAIA L2 wind on your back to help you. You need and want to move it to June b/c you don’t want to pass CFA L1 in Dec, wait for results end of Jan. then realized you are going to die trying to cram the CFA L2 down your throat in 4 months June 2011. [I had this issue plus lost another month on a personal issue] If you can get a whole year for the CFA L2, do it. CFA L1 is not that bad. There is enough time to cover everything. Move it to June, give yourself two shots at L1 if you need it and be much happier later. This is a very highly recommended strategic move.
