Least Douchey Luxury Sedan

this had to be in 08-09.

A 2013 model this past August. Dealer I bought from still had more than a dozen of them and 2014’s were supposed to be delivered in 2-3 weeks.

Dude, I’ve been a hermit since NYE… Got way too shitty, honestly I’ve been too a couple happy hours and on a couple dates in the 3-4 weeks I’ve had the car. I’m normally in south Orange county though, around the Newport area. A 40k car is peasant material around here anyways bro, so no big.

I stayed at the Beverly Wilshire with a rental Malibu a little while ago. It was pretty funny rolling up in the evening to the valet. The cars in front of me were a Ferrari, Fisker and Rolls Royce…I tossed the keys to my white Malibu, tipped the valet and said “Easy on the brakes.”

Since when did Porsche get so expensive???

had lunch at the Red O in fashion island this week - absolute cougar den and all the hostesses had nice upgrades.

Fuark dude, you should’ve told me you were in the area. Yeah, Red O is the new spot- taking over Javier’s marketshare.

I girl I know went there last week and said she was the only non-plastic’d out girl in the whole place. How’d you like it?

Yo Sys, about to pull the trigger on a CPO Audi A6. 2012, first year of the redesign. I had my heart set on an S4, but this one’s priced under $40k and appears to be an extreme value. What does the AF community think about the A6, grandpa-ish?

Great deal…how much is the mileage? Presumably you’ve looked at it on KBB…

under 40,000 miles…3 liter engine.

$40k for a used A6?

Are they that expensive? I’d expect it to be in the low 30s range tops

not for the 325 hp engine and 2012 or newer. prior to 2012s are very cheap, low/mid 30s because they are the last year before the redesign.

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of buying a car thats a few years old… I know you buy in at like 25% less, or more, but you dont get all the non-tangible utliity that comes with buying a new car. That said, I love the A6, my first choice was an A7 (which is the exact same car with a different rear). Plus you could potentially start shelling out dough for maintence/repairs. I contemplated getting an A7 that’s a few years old, but opted for something new that wasnt my first choice… its like:

Girl A) 9.5/10, spends money, crude, been with 40+ guys, cant cook or work

Girl B) 7/10, responsible, good wife, virgin (ok, maybe thats unrealistic), works and cooks

I don’t know, on a certified pre-owned they recondition them pretty darn close to new in the luxury brands. The warranties are pretty good also. Plus I’m cheap. Anyway I need to decide if I have the patience to wait around for the right S4 or if I should jump on this one.

i lol at ppl who buy brand new cars then lose 40% in first 3 years

Some people have too much money to care… I remember one client one of my fellow coworkers had. He placed an order for a luxury coupe, built to his spec. Total MSRP was $140k-ish. The car came in 8 weeks, he signed up and drove off happy. he came back a week later after putting 100 miles on it, said it was bigger than he expected and I think we gave him like… $115k for it.

You worked in a car dealership?

Yes, 3 different ones actually.

Silliest thing you can do is buy a brand new car. It is probably as bad as NANA’s $800 in investment loss vs lipstick holder theory

Unless if you are ohai and have so much money that you can wipe your ass with it

But on a serious note in the car buying world nothing beats a CPO. You are practically getting a brand new car at a huge discount to MSRP. Same warranty and bells and whistles and already lemon tested.

I went to a car show and I have to agree that Volvo is the way to go to not be douchey but still have a kickass car. Makes me feel old to say, but the higher trim V60 and Crosscountry have over 300 hp and torque, the utility of a SUV and the mileage of a mid-size sedan. They are around ~45 at the higher trims and 30s at the lower trims. If you want a nice, performing car with the lowest amount of douchiness, that’s probably it.
