level 2 done now aim for 700 GMAT

Now that we are awaitng level 2 results i was wondering if any of u have or know anybody that has gotten 700 + on GMAT how much time is needed to prep for it …im hearing 5- 6 months of studying to pull off 700…any thoughts appreciated…

I got a 740, 2 weeks of study, it’s really not hard at all. Granted I’m a good test taker, 1480 SAT

I am waiting for level 1 result and have a target of 750+ before I start preparation for level 2 in November. My date is 1st October. Did you take the date?

Nobody should need months of GMAT prep unless English is a distant second language. The closer you are to undergrad (or even high school), the better. It’s just an extension of the same knowledge. I reviewed some old high school math (algebra, pre-calc) for a few hours the week before the exam (eight years after college) and got in this score range. If you’re a good test taker, especially computerized test, it’s not a hard test. Just understand that it is an adaptive test – it gets harder (to a point) as you get questions correct. Which means that getting a question wrong temporarily makes it easier.

Wow u guys are champions …no not yet but i am aiming for October as well my weakest part will be English section i know i need to work really hard on it …The school i want to get into for MBA is Indian school of Buisness …so affordable P.S I live in Toronto…

Just like with any test time management is crucial. I literally ran out of time at the end trying to “conquer” a question (I left two questions blank–so stupid) and still got a 730. I thought I could have done a little better (especially if I had finished!) but I didn’t feel like retaking it. I would agree that the verbal/English part is probably the harder part for most people. My guess is that most people on these boards have a nice tilt toward solid math skills.

i made a 300 on my SAT and I am equal

I took the gmat last summer in between l1 and l2. I think it takes 3-5 months to get 700+

For those who scored 700+, which books did you use? Took CFA 2 as well and I’m ordering Manhattan books plus the Official reviews for a GMAT exam in Sept/Oct so I can re-focus on CFA in November.

I just did a few practice GMATs. Practice makes almost-perfect.

Wow if you need 2 months to get 700+ on the GMAT you need your head examined. I did two days and wrote for fun one summer and scored 680. I didn’t even know how many questions were on the test when I took it. I’m not trying to sound boastful just that this is a CFA level II forum and compared to a lvl 2 CFA a GMAT is a complete joke.

The biggest probelm is the english part Math is piece of cake any insight for someone who’s first language is not English?

I have got 700 with 5 days of studying (barely) … my exam was exactly 1 week after CFA level 1 so I didn’t have time to prepare well but if you manage your time and don’t stress out, you should sort it out easily Good liuck

I would recommend just doing a ton of questions, if you have a computer program that offers practice questions in an adaptive test format that is the best. I did that for a week and got a 720…

760 with one month of study. I’m not a native speaker. Recommended materials: Official GMAT exam, red, blue, green GMATPrep Kaplan Live Manhattan SC gmatclub.com

710 with about 4 weeks of preparation. In my opinion, the incremental value addition to the score beyond 4 weeks of preparation is marginal. To a great degree, your score depends on your innate capabilities, your educational background since childhood, etc. Key is to be relaxed for the exam. This might improve the score by 10 or 20 points. I wish I had gotten good night’s sleep before the exam. Of course there will be a few exceptions here and there such as people who scored 100 points more in their second attempt. We do not know the real stories behind these anecdotes though.

I score GMAT 760 with one month of practice. I increased my score from 670 on my diagnostic. Here’s what you need: - Manhattan GMAT Prep (all the books) - There is a Kaplan book called 800 – it contains only the hard problems – get that. Skip the easy books - Get the Official questions guides. The harder questions are at the end of each chapter, do those - Do the gmatclub.com for Math problems over and over, as well as their practice exams. It’s all about doing the hardest problems. There are a finite number of questions and you’ll crack 'em

640 after about a month and a half. Then I studied real hard for 2 months, and scored a 580 somehow. then I got an email saying there was something wrong with my test, and I could redo it if I wanted. I didn’t want. 640 was fine for me (got into U of Toronto)

Thanks for all the great input guys

Damn. This is definitely a skewed sample though. I got a 630 on my first shot and I’m going to study more next time. I just ordered the Manhattan GMAT prep books. I read that 800 is a great resource. I scored very well in verbal and poorly in quant so I know what to focus on now. www.beatthegmat.com This forum is awesome. I just want to say everyone on here is an inspiration. Very nice people here with strong work ethics and high aspirations. It’s a nice culture to be in.
