Level2 shweser video lectures

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has studied with schweser’s video lectures?

Want to find out if they are worth the money

Check out Wiley’s video lectures, used them for L1 and L2 and they were great preparation.

I will echo this sentiment. I studied almost exclusively with the Wiley lectures for Level 1, will at least be starting out that way again for Level 2.

I used the Schweser on demand video lectures for level 2. They were quite hit and miss. Mostly I did not enjoy them and they skimmed through things too quickly or high level.

From what I recall:

Quant is done by an east European guy who sounds like a robot but is actually very effective

Econ and Equity are done by Jeff Chang. Some people like him, I personally found him really annoying and whiney. I also did not find him very effective

FRA is Jon Bone. He seems to be a legend around here, again I thought he was just oK.

BJ Tolia does Corp Fin and Derivatives. He is quite dry but gets the point across. I thought he was useless for derivatives though.

Andrew Homes did Alternatives and Fixed Income. He was good for fixed income.

Richie Owen does some which are very good. I know of him from when he used to teach at Fitch. He has quite dry delivery but for some reason the way he says things just stick with me.

As you can see, I personally dont have glowing reviews for the Schweser video package. I switched over to IFT videos and the difference was night and day. People will see me talking about IFT alot on these threads, I am definitely not endorsing - I am a UK resident with no affiliation to him, but just genuinely found his videos to be the most thorough and closely aligned with the curriculum.

Just my two cents.

I test drove the wiley package in the month leading up to the exam and can wholeheartedly agree that Wiley videos are great too.

Peter Olinto is slowly being phased out, but he is very effective. Basit is very thorough and likes to take everything through from first principles. Some people like this, others dont. If you can handle his slow pace and granular approach you can’t really go wrong with him. But again, i found IFT to be the best mix of digging deep when needed and skimming other areas which were not as relevant.

Word on the Wiley street is he’s been brought back for the L1 and L2 curriculum for 2018 and beyond. Attended a live webinar with him and Darren Degraaf the other day, so it seems official. He really is great for L2: covered the entirery of the equity section and a good portion of FRA.

As a tangent, I’m really concerned about their L3 materials and will probably look elsewhere to LevelUp and, as you recommended, IFT.
