Living your “Best Life”

Anyhow, what is this phrase all about? I keep hearing people talking about this. Peloton instructors. Starbucks baristas. Rando millenials. People with low opportunity costs of time. I mean, what are these people talking about? I have to work for a living.

I think it’s a person who self indulges. Mostly it’s when someone does a certain vice with no fear of repercussions.

Like slingin that YOLO butter?

I hear what you’re saying. But sometimes I think people get so caught up in the rat race that the start to forget what’s important to them. They start focusing on relatively unimportant stuff. It reminds me of the old parable of the Mexican fisherman.

A little oversimplified and a lot commercialized, but you get the gist. The Mexican fisherman is living his best life now. He doesn’t need a fancy watch and a BMW and an Top-2 MBA to get what he wants out of life. I think there’s a lot of wisdom in the parable.

(That’s whay “living your best life now” means to me, anyway.)

“Living your best life” is hacksaw talk.

I am surprised you guys had to ask this, as it is what Nery has done every day and how he continues to live his life.

ish sad. but i dont anymore.

I abhore that phrase. It’s so obnoxious. It shouldn’t bug me but it does

when i tell people to max out 401k or tell someone about the amt of calories on what they are eating. i get that response.

This about sums it up.

h//www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Living%20My%20Best%20Life

"A stupid phrase that is used, commonly on Instagram, to give the false reality that you can wake up and choose which “life” you want to live. Perhaps you want to be a lazy dog, or a human facing the challenge of whether to have avocado on toast or a green smoothie for breakfast. Either way, it’s got to be the best (breakfast) life you could possibly be living.

Just posted a selfie, #Living My Best Life"

Wow, that’s a good definition

Anyway, in aggregate, the phrase seems to reflect willful ignorance towards things that are beyond your nearby attainment set. I’m seeing a lot of internets definitions about “enjoying life while maximizing your potential”. The second part is probably inserted to deflect criticism that the person is just living a lazy and hedonistic lifestyle. Realistically, you could probably change some things in your life that would make you more successful and happier while saving time. So, the “best” definition is just mental accounting to make yourself feel more adequate.

lock them up!

Why do people have to shit all over avacado toast? It’s just food.

These phrases come and go. When I was in college, it was “being a real and genuine” personality. Judging by my fb newsfeed, the up and coming fashion phrase now is “healing”. Everyone seems to be focusing on healing from some trauma. Which is funny because most of these people have lived such a sheltered life that their biggest trauma is their dog dying and Trump’s election victory.

holy shit this song is hilairouis: “i’m living my best life”
