Just as someone can point to differences that you highlight above, we can also point to parallels between the two groups, which is the point of the cartoon. Trump is often compared to Mussolini due to their similarities, even though many of their beliefs are wildly different. Anyway, there is a line where action to oppose extremists violates central democratic beliefs. Even if KKK and similar groups have beliefs that are considered to be undesirable by most people, this does not justify unlawful actions that oppose those beliefs.
Maybe initially but as the line blurs as to who’s oppressing who…well, then it’s not so different. Try this:
Has your group used violence to make a point?
Does your group hate the people they’re opposing?
Are you trying to restrict the rights of others?
As far as I can tell, both the far left and the far right would answer yes to all three questions. Take away the symbols of hate the far right is using and there’s not much difference. You have people on tumblr talking casually about how all white men are nazis. Or how it’s okay to hate straight people. I mean, there really isn’t that much difference. Both sides are made of horrible, ignorant, racist, and sometimes violent people.
The only real difference is what lens you view it from.
Well, KKK and Neo Nazis are pretty bad. However, “other people are worse” is usually not a good excuse for doing bad things yourself.
LOL
ltj, nice!
ohai & STL, completely agree and I dont mean to in any way promote/support violence on any side. If the KKK were to peacefully protest (while i wouldnt have a problem with it as long as it was peaceful) they would still be a-holes due to their beliefs. It comes down to what bchad used to always talk about WRT the paradox of the left, being tolerant of intolerance.
ltj - fantastic meme
“Black-clad antifa members attack peaceful right-wing demonstrators in Berkeley”
^ that was horrible, no excuse for attacking someone who isnt provoking/attacking
Saw this story the other day and felt bad for this guy, turns out he was completely false flagging. Not sure why the alt right keeps constantly claiming everything is a false flag (the person driving into people) when they seem to try this stuff.

People everywhere need to chill out.
The Mandatory Marijuana Mandate
Exactly, these are the same people.
Except it’s not different because antifa are not “fighting against oppressors”. Clearly normal people have been straw-manned as “nazis” to justify antifa’s, and the corporate media’s, and corporate tech’s, oppression of others.
Note this oppression is coming from America’s institutions, antifa are just the useful idiots who carry out the silencing via mobs and beatings when there is no legal way to stop speakers.
#IdeologicalFascism.
Fuck da white man!
ayyyy PA is back, good to see ya bro
Been following this one for the better part of a year now and my quality of life has increased substantially. Cut back on my boozing a bit, relaxing before bed is much more enjoyable. Hard to believe its not legal in this country, progress though.
attaboy! go get what they stole from you
Love this one. Will this allow Trump to claim he has “nothing to do” with names dropping off the listing and helping Putin out. Article after article has said the Magnitsky act is what Putin wants gone. Not seeing very much info about this in the news
Now the DACA people are great and the wall is just some old fences that need repairing?
Hysterical.
Trump does not care about any issues whatsoever. He only cares that he appears to get stuff done, thereby “winning.” Problem is, it seems like the democrat leadership, who unlike the republican leadership can actually rally votes, is going to use him to get things they want before the whole Trump administration comes crashing down. I’m guessing Kelly realizes this and wants to be known as the guy the wrangled Trump rather than another casualty. What a time to be alive.
Breitbart’s take:
Report: Trump Caves on DACA, Wants ‘Quick’ Amnesty for 800K Illegal Aliens
I honestly feel kind of bad for hard-core Trump supporters.
^Trump’s just reminding everyone he’s a populist. Not a very good one, but that’s his true alignment. Depending on how things shake out over the next couple months, it’s possible we’ll see more bipartisanship than we have since the '90s. Of course, this means Trump loses his base, no wall, no re-election, and likely not the tax breaks conservatives had in mind. But, I honestly can’t remember the last time a President had two meetings with members of the other party and walked away with some sort of compromise in less than a month (or a full term for that matter).
I still hate Trump and think his cancerous, but these new developments are not entirely discouraging.
