Marquee financial modeling workshop

Looking for some thoughts on the Marquee groups financial modeling in excel workshop. My CFA society is partnering to bring the workshop to our city but at $1600 I am curious about the recognition of this course in the analyst industry.

If anyone is involved with hiring or recruiting for analyst roles I would love to know if this would add value to a resume.

No clue about this but general view tends to be just get the Breaking Into Wall Street package for like 500 and you get lifetime access and many people think the in person stuff is a waste of time and you’re better suited doing it at your own pace as opposed to at the pace of the slower people.

^Yeah the BIWS course is great, I don’t think it’s quite $500 though, maybe I took a limited course but the modeling only course is great. BTW you don’t do the course for the recognitiion/resume, only for the skills learned.

Wasnt sure on the price as I have only looked and am planning to grab it after L2 in June. Heard nothing but great things and really looking forward to it.

I’ve done both Marquee I, II, III and BIWS. If you have no idea how modeling is done, Marquee can help but if you already know what’s going on its uncertain how much value it will add to you. I find it hard to imagine any prep course being worth 1600 short of GMAT or LSAT top tier prep. BIWS goes into more detail, and runtime wise, is a lot longer. The guys running Marquee are knowledge and friendly, but they can only cram so much information into three hour sessions. You won’t become a master modeler in 3, ,6 ,9 or even 12 hours. It’s all about practice. I wouldn’t say recognition is a good reason to drop that kind of money.

My recommendation is both are good but value wise I was happier with the money spent on BIWS. I was also very impressed with the fellow who runs BIWS, he had an associate call me long d and ask me how I was finding the material and if they could help in any way. I didn’t even buy the deluxe package. You’ve got to appreciate the effort on better customer care.

I liked it, and got some value out of it because I didn’t have any experience in modelling. My work paid for it. I wouldn’t have done it if I was paying for it…

I had a guy named Tim I think, he was super knowledgeable, and the sessions were interactive.

I had a trial of BIWS and did not like it. It is too fragmented. There is another course with a similar name which escapes me - a bit more expensive, but they get straight to the point. I bought neither, but would definitely not go with the BIWS.

Wall street prep?

Thank you for the great responses. I will likely got he BIWS route as it looks pretty good online, has received numerous strong third party reviews and the cost is quite a bit less, especitally given that it is long term learning rather than a 3 day course. Signing up June 5, haha.
