MBA Chances - Unconventional Profile

.

The GMAT Club forums is really the best place for this sort of thing. Good luck.

Looks good, your work experience is solid. May I suggest considering taking the gmat as it is more widely accepted than the GRE? Good luck!

This is a good post, but I believe you should have posted it in the feedback forum.

When I looked into an MBA a few years ago most of the top school accepted either and claimed to have no preference. I was suggested to do the GRE if your math isnt extremely strong

Your work experience sounds great, and if it’s not, it’s exotic enough that you can BS enough to make it sound great.

However, your academic credentials and test scores are mediocre. You should focus all your effort into improving your test scores. It would be too bad if a lack of effort in this area ruined your otherwise promising application.

You might also want to consider switching to the GMAT. From my experience, it is easier to attain a higher combined percentile score in the GMAT, compared to the GRE. All the math specialists and arts specialists will pile into one of the two categories. They might fail the other section, but they still drive down the other relative scores.

It’s much easier to get a higher combined score in GMAT if you have good verbal skills, all the math whiz from china and india are pushing the percentile lower on the quant side but they are not very good on the verbal side. GRE in general is not as respected as GMAT as it is easier to get a higher percentile on the quant part which school do care about somewhat.

I’m not an expert – but those test scores seem pretty low for your target schools.

Damn. Did you get to travel to 60 countries for business or pleasure?

Hi hei so, for both I guess, as it is pretty easy to travel when you lived abroad for any meaningful amount of time…I just wonder how or if that would benefit me directly as an MBA applicant…

You probably acquired a better appreciation for and understanding of different cultures (I would think). It’s also not a bad thing to know how to work with people from different backgrounds (again, I think that would be a benefit from traveling abroad). People skills are always a plus…
