Why is there no Mid East, US, but there is a mid west? Never understood this. Wife and I are debating and I told her I knew just the guys to ask. It’s because y’all don’t want to be associated with the “middle east”, isn’t it? Don’t lie.
That sounds like a terrible debate.
Lol
Mid east does sound a lot like middle east which is not good. Having a place called mid east could also cause massive confusion kind of the same way how some people thought during the russia-georgia war that the state of georgia was being occupied by russians.
US started in the east and expanded west. The mid-west used to just be called the west before the current western states were added. Similar reason to why Europeans have the near east, middle east, far east continuum. Perspective.
That’s as sensible an expiation I could have received here. Adds up. Bravo
Now now, don’t be sour
if you actually look at population density between west vs east. most of the us population is in the east. the western coastal states recently exploded and became very distinct from the mid west.
53m in western coastal states (3 states only). 17m in the mid west (4x the land size of the west). and 250m in the eastern half.
looking at that map bwyf posted just reminded me the most underrated president in the us, JAMES POLK who basically conquered that area from the mexicans. what he did in 1 year speaks of greatness. louisana purchase was thomas jefferson bought from the french cuz france was goign to lose to britain anyways. coincidentally alaska was sold by russia because of britain as well.
