Most overrated cuisine

It must have been a sarcasm on his part

Was it made with the red sauce? What did you not like about it?

This sounds obvious but I think most of the time, it depends on how food is prepared and with what spices/sauces. For example, I do not like westernized ways of cooking lobster because all you do is boil it and dip it in butter, which is okay because it is still lobster. But me being Chinese, we put a mix of ginger, scallions, and garlic on it then steam/grill it, which makes the lobster taste that much better.

^ it was just that it was a lot of work for very little grisly slimey payoff.

I kind of agree on lobster, it’s only really as popular as it because its expensive which is only really due to scarcity value. Having said that, I do love a lobstah roll and smadams whenever I’m in Boston.

This thread turned into a classic AF $hitshow where a bunch of wannabe standup comedians are practicing their routine dissing on perfectly delicious global cuisines, I don’t like chicken feet, I don’t like frog legs, I don’t like green peppers. The only thing overrated in this thread is your undiscerning palates, you clowns

wtf? but those are legitly disgusting dishes. its kind of like eating escargot.

i agree that green peppers should basically be included in nothing. almost everything is better without green peppers. other peppers are cool.

agree that most overrated is french, not because its bad but because its rated so highly by all. i love savoury stuff so yeah french can make a good dinner dish but french for lunch and breakfast, no thanks. i guess you can get an okay breakfast and lunch around marseille or other mediteranean spots but french cuisine down there is basically what most people think of when they think of italian food.

in this regard, italian, while rated highly, is not overrated as they have a good variety of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.

most underrated would likely be south american cuisines. peru is knocking it out of the park in the haute cuisine world but that has not yet translated to peruvian restaurants on every street. plus, south american flavours come with great variety and nuance, similar to italian.

I just realized smadams is Sam Adams. tee hee…

I’m sure there’s a Korean BBQ joint somewhere that has snails on the menu. :stuck_out_tongue:

Avocado is the the most overrated cuisine, the devil’s potato.

French by far. Their wines too

For me its sushi. Why the hell does something that isn’t even going to fill me up have to cost $20 a roll???

I better never catch you eating guacamole again then Frank.

And then there’s a chance you get to leave with a surprise that requires you to get surgery to have a parasite in your stomach removed several weeks later.

Sushi is alright, it’s not something I ever find myself craving. Only time I’ll go is if that’s what my date really really wants.

yea, or my boss orders it and is expensing it.

also, soup… soup fucking sucks. Who the hell actually came up with this idea of soup? It’s hot, hard to eat, and again, doesn’t fill you up.

There’s cold soups too, ya know: vichyssoise, gazpacho… And I make my own chicken stock too!!!

I like soup a lot. Would rather eat soup than a salad. Don’t understand how it’s hard to eat.

ever had potato soup? or squash soup? or italian wedding soup? eat five bowls of each and report your degree of satiety. tanks!

Seems I’ve struck a nerve with this anti-soup post.

pho…or the thai version (guy tiew). Both are some of the best damn soups ever

I make a mean potato/leek soup.
