also, soup… soup fucking sucks. Who the hell actually came up with this idea of soup? It’s hot, hard to eat, and again, doesn’t fill you up.

I like soup a lot. Would rather eat soup than a salad. Don’t understand how it’s hard to eat.

And, speaking of beef, coming from the second best cattle town in the US (I’ll concede Chicago is the best), obviously the cattle needs good genetics, but most of the flavor/texture comes from what they eat and their living conditions. For example, grain fed beef is way, way better than range fed. Plus a million other variables. The sense I get is most beef outside the US is range fed (Japan excluded). That’s just never going to be as good as grain fed.

What? I’m a ‘each to their own’ kind of guy but I struggle to comprehend how someone could prefer grain fed to grass fed beef. I get why Kobe beef is fed with grain to promote the marbled fat but I see that as a different category.

This must be one of those American stockholm syndrome type things like rejoicing in not getting any time off work or thinking that poor people don’t deserve health care.

Me? Never. But seriously, I was being seriously serious. Grass fed beef is much tougher and less flavorful. Or, rather, it tastes different. A bit gamey-er. Grain fed beef is tender and has more fat, which is where the (good) flavor comes from.

Not sure where the vitriol from our Scottish friend is coming from. I take tons of time off (today, as a matter of fact) and believe we should have affordable health care for all, just not a single-payer system.

I make a really good chicken noodles soup.

The mentioned Thai soups are all good, I never had any of them until I moved recently and they are some of my favorite. Except thai curry, for whatever reason, it’s too sweet for my taste.

I think Matzo ball soup is over rated. I like everything except the Matzo ball, what’s the point of that? I’d rather have bread, rice, noodles than a Matzo ball in the middle of my soup. I’ll eat it if it’s there but I don’t get it.
