Something off topic for Saturday evening. I’m loving these songs at the moment. AC/DC - Back in Black Pixies - Where is my mind (also like the Placebo cover) Simple Minds - Don’t you forget about me Cold Play - Strawberry Swing The Prodigy - Omen & Warrior’s Dance Lily Allen - 22 What sort of music do you all listen to?
Huey Lewis and the News Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
A lot of late 70s/early 80’s stuff (David Bowie, Iggy Pop/Stooges, Joy Division, Spaceman 3) For new Stuff, I like Handsome Furs, Brian Jonestown Massacre, White Stripes, the Editors & Nine Inch Nails. That’s a pretty eclectic mix, soddy.

My personal Favorite is Hip to Be square, a song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics - But they should. Because its not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It’s also personal statement about the band itself. HEY PAUL! Note: I didn’t copy/paste that. I have much of the movie committed to memory. Good way to freak out the gf.
Mostly Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, … I used to listen to so much blues, but I just do not have time now.
Debussy at the moment
On a bit of a Bruce Springsteen buzz at the moment after seeing him a few weeks ago. Greetings from Asbury Park is getting a lot of time. Always need a hit of Bowie to get me though the day (Recommend his cover of Bruce’s Growin Up). Tom Waits & Elvis Costello are regulars too. Newer stuff - Empire of the Sun, MGMT, Louis XIV, Athlete (just getting into them), Interpol, Director. And after years of bad mouthing Damien Rice as being a bore, I kinda think he’s alright now.

Impressive. While reading it I was wondering if you went to the bother to google PB quotes to copy & paste…

Right now Bring Me the Horizon. Before that it was The Casino Brawl.
I am jamming a lot of RATM right now.

Apart from that freaky metal like Sepultura and Korn and stuff like that. Anything heavier than Metallica isn’t for me.
Is KarenC the only one with any taste?
sorry Superinconsistent

True, but 9 Crimes is a great song. Plus, word is that he discovered Rodrigo y Gabriela, so I’ve got to give him a big thumbs up for that. EDIT: I also love Rootless Tree.
Jensen - Very true - I should have mentioned that the only decent song on that album is 9 crimes but I could listen to every song on “O” CoffeeCip08 - Thanks hun I listen to a lot of classical while painting but acoustic music is great too
I’m listening to A Tribe Called Quest, back when hip-hop music was good. Sincerely, Stubborn Sam
I like trance although at time i like to bring it back to old school with some Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
