Music I'm listening to.

I grew up on classic rock and it’s still the best in my ears, but i’m switching it up these days.

I’ve found 8tracks and Songza to be great apps for discovering new music - anyone use these apps/have a good playlist in electronic/dance/pop/gangsta rap?

Gangsta rap is so 1990s.

here’s some 90’s rap:

Ma$e - Do you wanna get money

My friend made a pretty unPC comment the other day which I found amusing:

“gangsta rap these days just isn’t the same anymore - they used to have real problems. Now all they rap about is having too much money and going to the club”

I mostly listen to 2pac and 90’s g-rap

I agree, I think after 50 cent, the genre became friendlier. Beef is rare now.

Well no one is really making gangsta rap anymore except for Papoose LOL. I think the closest we have now is trap rap (music about selling drugs in the ‘trap’ [drug dealing location]). Rap <> Gangsta Rap

Took my first kizomba class with this guy on Sat, and it was fun. The music had a nice R&B groove, too.

(Not so crazy about the kitschy intro and video effects, though).

Chad I liked that dancing. It is like grinding at the club but there are more moves. Is that like the modern tango?

Kizomba looks more like grinding than it really is. Your thighs often touch (often inside and fairly high), but your pelvis doesn’t. But you still hold each other close like in traditional tango, plus there are a lot of similar movements.

I imagine CvM would totally clean up if he started doing it.

The ladies styling classes are clearly part of the charm for us straight guys. My girlfriend loved it; said it made her “feel more Brazilian.”

I do a lot of tango, but Kizomba has a lot of stuff that I like about tango with some more music types and suited to more modern stuff.

Most tangueiros like the golden age music from the 30s,40s, and 50s, and it is musically richer, but you can actually do tango to more modern stuff. A lot of tango people look down on it, but I happen to like it. (in fact, if it weren’t for the group Bajofondo, I probably would never have started tango).

Here are some people dancing tango to blues. The guy is more wiggly than I like, but otherwise is very good.

The one below is more my style, though the guy’s technique isn’t quite as good.
