Just finished the CFA mock exam, scoring 65 overall. Although I hoped for more, I’m not really dissapointed. I also did a Schweser mock last week, which I found way easier. 65 is passing range right?
Also I’m afraid I will not have enough time this Saturday, especially the CFA mock has a lot of calculations/formules (compared to schweser), which took quite some time. Also because English is not my first language I have to reread questions quite often.
My plan for the coming days is: revise tomorrow, do a final (schweser) mock on Wednesday. Thursday have to work (do some revising) and Friday final revisement using 11th hour.
What do you think of where I stand and of my plans for the coming days?
Nobody knows the passing score, but 65% is pretty good.
I’m not sure I’d work another mock exam. I’d rather spend the time reviewing my previous exams and revisiting the lists of junk I had to memorize for the exam and the formulae. And I’d review Ethics one last time.
65 is definitely not a cause for panic. Keep up the good work. Just learn from your mistakes and keep rolling! Nzhukov, don’t worry about Elan Mock 3…that thing was just ridiculous. About 2X more difficult than the CFAI Mock. I scored 75% on CFAI Mock and 73% on both Elan Mock 1 and 2, also scored 80% on two Schweser Mocks but managed a 62% on Elan Mock 3. My point is, Elan (and especially Elan Mocks 3) is just in another league when you look at the difficulty of practice problems/mocks.
Question for you guys. I’ve noticed on this forum that a lot of people when referring to scores sometimes use the points that they actually average at (for example 65) or they put a % sign next to the score. So that means getting a 60 out of 120 on a mock exam is actually a score of 50%. Are you guys talking about total points or percentage? Also is 70% the passing grade or are 70 points (average) the passing grade.
I’ve been constantly scoring 82%+ on the first 5 schweser practice exams and around 1000 questions in QB. It turns out that Ethics is my weakest area ( average of 72% ). Given that Ethics on these exams are nothing compared to the difficulty of the real exam, should I be worried about Ethics adjustment?
If you are truly scoring 82%+ on Schweser under test conditions (time constraints, not looking at cheat sheets), you are in excellent shape. You should study Ethics in the coming days, but even a 72% is a strong score.
Make sure you are well rested for the exam because it sounds like you’ve nearly nailed the curriculum if you’re consistently in the 80s. There are probably some examples of people scoring in the 80s on mocks and not passing, so be mindful of that and still put in a good faith effort, but the MPS is estimated to be in the 65% to 68% range
I’ve been scoring 85% on Schweser Mock Exams, and today I just finished the Boston Security mock. Scored 73%. Tomorrow I will do the CFA Mock to compare, but honestly the Schweser was much simpler than Boston’s, which is kind of scary.
Is Kaplan’s mock exam the same as the two practice exam booklets?
I dont know how u ppl could score 80%+ on kaplan exams, becuz they are really tough questions overall. Like every question requires thinking, and it is so hard to finish one exam set within 3 hrs, based on my current experience.
