I noticed I cant print a bunch of pages at once for the new 2015 L3 curriculum and can print only one page at a time through the Vitalsource Bookshelf.
This was definitely not the case with the L2 materials for 2014 June when I had printed a few readings.
Did anybody else notice this change. Did anyone figure a workaround?
After reading your post, I immediately checked it out… You are right. VB lets you print only one page at a time whereas it was possible to print the whole book for Level I and II.
No workaround though, I would be glad to hear there is one!
I checked my L2 e-versions and they are still printable through Vitalsource, whereas the new 2015 L3 curriculum is not. I doubt Vitalsource would have implemented the restrictions on their own without instructions from CFAI.
After they made the e-versions of the curriculum a compulsory purchase a few years back, now they are trying to make sure everybody buys the hard copy versions.
For L2 I read most of the curriculum (whenever I chose the curriculum over Schweser) on my laptop or on the mobile on my commute through Vitalsource. However, there were some readings that were simply not readable electronically and needed to be printed through Vitalsource.
Another advantage of the print functionality was that you could carry a few readings around rather than the heavy hard copy volumes.
By restricting printing, CFAI is ensuring that the e-versions are used electronically only and everybody who needs any portions printed is forced to buy the hard copy versions.
Below the belt by CFAI this one.
I can also (and still) print several pages from level II.
But I just noticed, it is possible to print a couple of questions from level III books. Obviously they changed the way the sections are divided. You are allowed to print section per section. For example, I picked reading 3 in ethics and I am allowed to print the whole reading (10 pages). If I just pick the title page, I am allowed to print only that.
Being restricted to one reading at a time still is inconvenient, but at least you can print more than just one page…
As I find it much easier to learn off a printed book, I have always bought the books right off at registration. But in addition, I printed all books as PDF to save them for the future and to be more flexible when learning e.g. from my company laptop or my mobile.
Yes indeed, it now allows to print one reading at a time. Earlier it had restrictions on number of pages (I think 100 per print). Thanks much.
