I’ve received similar emails before and never know how to respond. I am actually interested in the role but it sounds like the recruiter is more interested in connecting to my colleagues than my background. How do you handle situation like this? Is he interested in recruiting me or just want to access my colleagues? _Hi XXX, I am the XXX company recruiter. I came across your resume online and thought you may be able to refer me to people in your network that have a similar background as you. I have an opening based in SF area. Please find a brief summary of the role below. If you know anyone that may be interested please feel free to send this message to them for their review and they can contact me. Thank you,_XXX
You could just say “I’m interested” if you are interested.
As a generalization recruiters suck
FTFY
^ I had a recruiter email me a few months ago, she and I met once when I was plotting my escape from big 4. She was trying to get a guy a job with my company that we hadn’t engaged recruiters for. Needless to say I declined to help. I would have been more than happy to take his resume, pass it along and then pocket the $1k referral bonus for myself but she didn’t offer his resume to me…
That’s indeed a krazy move by the recruiter. Not hooking you up for a job and yet using you to earn her a big commission.
What a twit! [edited by admin]
I’ve seen recruiters do that. They basically want their job done for them. recruiters in general only give a damn about you when you are their star candidate, as soon as you fall out of favor in the running, they immediately stop answer your calls/emails/questions.
+1
I’ve received those requests from recruiters in the past. I delete them.
