I am JD/MBA professional looking to establish a very rigorous weekly study group (1-2 hours Thursday nights through April increasing to two nights a week from April 1st through the test date) in either Midtown Manhattan or Westchester. First meeting target would be January 28th.
* The goal of the study group would be to read and review the entrity of the CFA Outline by the beginning of April with informed discussions and practice problems on the material for the week. (This is an aggressive outline including at least 200 pages of material a week).
* Each person would also be responsible for developing and circulating to the group appropriate outlines for the material covered each week.
* The group would also be responsible for maintaining e-mail communications, including a 24 hour turn-around on questions and problems posed by the rest of the team.
* From April through June, each team member would look to do one practice test each week. The sessions would be intended to (a) review test questions and address problem areas; and (b) review and refresh previously covered material and outlines (regardless of practice test performance).
* I am not planning on using third party material as we will be developing our own outline (I found that to be by far the most successful strategy in law school). However, we can assess our needs along the way.
* Attendance, participation, and communications would all be required.
I know this sounds like an aggressive schedule that may be hard for many to commit to and I understand that it will not be for everyone. That said, I feel confident with the right team and the discipline to stick to the study plan, we can achieve success the first time.
