How come the parenthesis keys are not functional? Am I using them incorrectly? For example, if you want to do (6 x 2) + (5 x 4), you would have to calculate 6 x 2, write it down, and then calculate 5 x 4, and then add it to the result of 6 x2. Obviously, we can do this in our head, but with numbers in decimal places, it would be nice to use the parenthesis keys to preserve the order of operations i.e. (6.32323 x 2.43) + (5.32 x 4.19) can’t be done in a single calculator calculation. Anyone know how the parenthesis keys can be used to help with this problem, or maybe another way to go about this nuisance so that you don’t have to waste time by writing down the answers of parts of equations?
I think you wrote it out right…(6*2)+(5*4)=32
Yes, but on the calculator, I don’t see how to input the parenthesis. So it is 6*2+5*4 which gives you an incorrect answer of 68.
do ( 6 * 2 ) gives 12 + (5 * 4) = 32
they are above the 7 & 8 keys. They don’t show up when you press them but it registers them.
I figured it out. I was pressing the keys, but thought they were “not functioning” because I didn’t see the parenthesis on the screen. However, it does work. Wierd that TI can’t/doesn’t have it show up. Thanks for the help oliverbrierley!
