passed Series 63 - Do I get a certificate now or what?

Hi Folks: I passed my Series 63 last month. I recvd a paper with my score at the Testing site I took the test. But it was an informal piece of paper. How do I get to show anyone that I passed? Do I expect a certificate (been a month and still have not recd anything). Or do i have to register/make note somewhere/some dept? Thanks for taking this - By the way I wrote it as an individual - not company sponsored.

You don’t get a certificate. They are just supposed to send a letter to your compliance department saying that you are all clear. In fact, I’m a bit surprised that you were able to take the test without being supported by a company.

Series 63 (among 7, 86 and 87) is the only licensing exam that I can take without being sponsored. Looking to get into sell side ER - Been on the buyside HF research for 3 years and laid off a yr ago. Trying to prepare as best as I can with these FINRA licences.

Lol, why would you want one?

You get a pat on the back

I’ve wanted to do the series 63 too, because I don’t have any of those licenses and I figure it would look good to have at least that one on my resume. How would you compare the Series 63 exam to, say, CFA Level 1? Is series 63 one-tenth the material? Half the material? Is it mostly a re-hash of CFA? Do you know of any good sites that talk about how to sign up for the test etc? I went to a couple sites like FINRA and they didn’t do a good job of explaining the process.

I am taking Lvl 3 for the first time this June. I graduated from the McCombs full-time MBA program this past May and had to do the 7, 63, and 87 for my job (86 exemption). I thought all the series tests were incredibly easy. I studied roughly 30 hours for the 7, and passed with flying colors. I then studied about 10 hours each for the 63 and 87, and passed by a wide margin.

Hi Wendy: I went to Kaplan for my notes. I did not see FINRA providing any notes and so needed someone to provide it. It also helped that I got their Qbank - I am better at learning by testing myself. 63 is incredibly easy - only it is a LAW exam type, so need to focus more on the wordings and some memorization. Otherwise it has Ethics, which is easy and accounts for 40% of the test. Another subject also takes 40% of the cake, which makes it easier to narrow down on focus topics. I studied for 2 days before I took the test and passed with an 80% - I think the pass is 72% or something like that. Take the plunge, it is NOTHING like lvl 1. Pretty easy.

Now you sit back and watch the money roll in
