Why does there seem to be such polarization going on between men and women? Over here in Europe the “4B” movement is being talked about, the media seems to obsess over even the slightest wrongs that exists in society between the sexes, etc. Just crazy sounding ■■■■.

There is a school of thought that says the rise of `identity politics’ (race, gender, sexuality, etc) is due to cultural marxism (the Frankfurt School etc)
Cultural Marxism teaches us that “cultural hegemony” of the capitalist class (the bourgeoisie) uses cultural institutions like Christianity and traditional marriage as an instrument of oppression to maintain power and wealth and that various groups are victims of this cultural oppression: women, people of color, immigrants, homosexuals, Muslims, etc.
The far left uses identity politics to pit one group against another in order to achieve permanent political power.
As for the media obsessing over the slightest perceived wrongs, another facet of cultural marxism is the Long march through the institutions. The far left attempts to capture certain institutions (the media, universities, etc) by populating those institutions with a disproportionate number of fellow travelers.

The topic is too complex and big to summarize but just a few points that just bug me about this:
- Intersectional politics aim at “erasing” the differences between people but instead we’ve begun to view people based on what “subgroup” of people he belongs to.
- Actions are evaluated based on the identity of the person/people in question; e.g. inequality within a minority community is OK but even the slightest inequality within the “white” population is seen almost as a violation of human rights.
- The far left’s weight in the media is way too big and hence the public discourse focuses way too much on topics that have very little relevance to the average Joe.
Personally I don’t see there being a “plan” behind all this - I see it just as a wave of naiveté that has taken the hold of too many people. Now its identity politics, in the 60s and 70s it was socialism (in Europe). In 25 years it’s going to be something else.

My gf is a liberal feminist. When her car needed a tire change a few weeks back, traditional gender roles were no longer a threat but something to embrace.
