I’m only L1 candidate as well, but I’m voting NO. I’ve read the material (Schweser notes) twice and re-read FRA 3 times, and have been doing practice exams (and still only scoring 69%).
The main problem I see is that you won’t have ANY time to do any review or practice problems. You’ll just finish the material and bang, you’ll need to sit the exam right away. I remembered very little of the material I’d studied in the beginning by the time I finished 1st reading.
But you could be really smart and only need 1 pass through, everyone is different. But considering only 38% of people siting this exam pass, I’d say the odds are kinda against you.
Go for it though, and let us know what happened.
thank you for the input.
i finished the FRA last night. at end of chapter questions I usually score around 80%+, but its a different story with material you read long ago. I’m hoping that the last three books will be a way easier read since i just graduated a specialiazed honours in finance with quite some focus on valuation…
thanks again for the input… it motivates me
good luck on your exam
Schwesser EOC questions are pretty easy to score highly on as they’re more about cementing the concepts then really testing you. If you do not work full time and can study like 20-30 hours a week I’d say you have a shot.
An honors student in finance? You probably have a better shot than you think.
cleverku. How did you manage to study this much? do you not have a job…?
AK87
Reading the material once is probably plenty…after that it all comes down to IF and HOW you manage to review. Alot of people take 1 week off of their job right before the exam. Maybe, in your case, consider taking two weeks off.
Ive found that videos are very helpful for summarizing material quickly. The Schweser videos are “OK”… if you have the time, go through a few of Khan Academy’s videos when you dont remember something major. (http://www.khanacademy.org).
Obviously, secret sauce and Qbank are essential. Also, once you’re through FRM, the remaining sections are downhill.
You’re in real bad shape, but its still doable.
Good luck.
My second reading was more of a pass through rather than actual reading. Took maybe a month to do compared to 5 months or so for the first read.
Hi guys, just want to know how much time are you planning to dedicate reviewing for the June 2012 exams? I’m currently on answering sample questions/mock exams, and reviewing notes phase. I’m at full time employed at IT field and would like to ask for your advice on how much time should I dedicate for the remaining days. Thanks a lot

Hello again, and thank you for your comments, thoughts and suggestions.
I scored 70+ in 7 topics, 50-70 in 2 topics and failed one, passing the exam. The topic i failed was the one i never had a chance to read.
By may 8th I had read and fully reviewed the first three books, including all the practice questiosn at the end of the chapter, consistently scoring 75-85 averagely, and no lower than 65. The next three books were way easier for me because most of the material was covered as part of my academic curriculum, and I pretty much breezed by them. As major requirements (BBA, Finance) I have taken Corporate finance, Derivatives, Fixed Income, Equity Valuation, Portfolio Management as well as Statistcs and some basic Financial Accounting - these last two were of no help though.
Off to the second level!
Good luck everyone and thank you again.
