Practice Questions Learning Ecosystem

Hi all,

I am seeking to clarify a question I had about the CFA level 1 learning ecosystem.

On the tab under practice, are these all the practice problems condensed into one section rather than searching through the content and individually going page by page?

I was curious to this as I am enrolled with the Schweser prep provider where I am not using the CFA program curriculum for my studies, therefore, I haven’t bothered to look at the CFA textbook content.

If I were just to stick with the questions listed in the practice tab, is that sufficient enough? I was wondering if the blue box questions in the CFA textbooks are any different then the questions under the practice tab.

I’d appreciate some clarification on this.

Cheers!

I’d be skeptical of allocating full reliance on a third-party provider. Without any knowledge of your previous experience, I am going to say solely sticking to the questions banks, or questions under the practice tab would generally not suffice for this rigorous of a curriculum. Contrarily, Schweser is one of the highest rated providers (assurance). Assuming you have at least a few years of experience, no curriculum is going to provide you with as closely aligned material/practice questions as the institute’s ecosystem itself. Unfortunately, it’s a game of paying the higher price for the higher quality product. [CFA Institute]

I have about 5 years of experience from my undergraduate degree, as I specialized in Economics and Finance. I have had hands-on experience with the majority of the content. Is the content in the CFA textbooks aligned with the questions in the practice tab, I was only wondering this so I don’t have to go through each module and attempt the end-of-practice questions on the CFA institutes learning ecosystem.

Having said that, you are well ahead of my personal experience - I wouldn’t see it as an absolute must to spend hundreds of hours completing each module given your experience and the alignment of practice questions to the text material, however, take into consideration pass rates for the program have consistently been lower [the institute wants to keep the rates down in order to maintain the exclusive and selective nature of the inclusion of professionals] comparatively to the majority of other Finance / Risk qualifications, I’d ultimately consult with professionals who hold a level experience exceeding that of your own for absolute assurance. You’ve already specialized but the CFA goes even further than collegiate studies, and I’m an early candidate.
