problems with BA ii plus calculations of PV&FV

Hi! I would be very grateful if anybody can help me with very stupid question. I am at the very beginnig of my preparation for June 2013 exam and I have problems with my calculator.

I am trying to calculate FV of a 300$ investment at the end of ten years, rr=8%.

n=10

i/y = 8

PV = -300

CPT FV = 2 096.33 whish is incorrect.

The same problems with PV calculatons.The answer is wrong.

I have reseted al the adjustments and set P/Y key to 1. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Did you put in the PMT as 0?

The inputs are:

10 N Enter

8 I/Y Enter

300- PV Enter

0 PMT Enter

CPT FV

=647

Thank you.

No I didn’t. Your answer is correct, however in the Study session 2 Schweser notes the there is nothing about PMT=O input :frowning: Just the inputs I wrote earlier.

And I don’t know why, I have problems with one more calculation which is called FV an ordinary annuity.

What is the future value of an ordinary annuity that pays 150 doll per year at the end of each year of the next 15. rr=7%

n=15

i/y=7

PMT = -150

CPT FV = - 1 1156.1

Which is again incorrect.

I am totally confused.

you do not need to do PMT=0

however you need to do a 2nd FV (CLR TVM) before you input your new set of numbers.

so do

2nd CLR TVM

10 N

8 I/Y

300 - PV

CPT FV

Are you clearing the Time Value of Money worksheet on your calculator when switching between questions?

Try the computations again, this time before you input anything press the yellow button (2nd), followed by FV which has CLR TVM (clear Time Value of Money). This restores all the inputs to zero.

CPK123 & Wojtek, yes, it works correctly now! Thanks a lot!
