Would you list it on a resume if you had been banned and received lifetime bans from well-known casinos from card counting? Would this look good on a resume or make you look like a sleazy cheater?
If you won some kind of tournament, then it will be a nice thing to put in your Hobbies section. If you just got banned from a casino, I would not recommend that you put that on your resume.
much more impressive? to your buddies, sure, it makes for a cool story to tell around a bonfire 10 years down the road when you guys reflect back on your lives and the stupid shit you did… to a hiring manager, highly unlikely.
I had different experiences with the same kind of resume.
I used to play poker professionnaly after my engineer school for a few years ~2.
Consequently i had a gap between studies and application to explain during interviews. I put it on my CV, adding that i was also paid to teach the subject.
Some employers did not like it at all and it cost me in some interviews ( that was a clear sign they did not read entirely my resume before the interview…).
Others were more receptive and some (in high frequency trading) were in fact quite interested by the subject (as i was working on implementing bots) and asked me a lot of questions about it ( even though i did not have this post at the end of the day).
Current employer is a big european bank is OK with it. Direct managers (N+1 & N+2) are more than OK with it , we sometimes play home games …
In your case i would say that i was counting cards professionnaly (if it is the case). I woud not mention the ban explicitely in writing but would definitively talk about it during interview if i can see that the hiring manager understand what i am talking about.
