^ The local DA did pursue it. Prosecutors agreed to a pretrial diversion program for Rice which means that he will be required to attend counseling, but will have no further legal ramifications so long as he meets the terms of the program.
“Mr. Rice received the same treatment by the criminal justice system in Atlantic County that any first-time offender has, in similar circumstances,” Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Jay McKeen said in a statement to NJ Advance Media. “The decision was correct.”
Also, he’s suspended indefinitely, not for life. The league can reinstate him at anytime. I suspect that they will reinstate him after 1 year.

The fight started because he was apparently texting other women. Me thinks it wasn’t the first time he did that and even cheated on her.
He disgracefully punched her in the face and she decided to marry him a few months later. Last I checked, there is no forced marriages in America. Me thinks it wasn’t the first time he hit her either.
If she hasn’t seen the video already, she has now and witnessed how callously he dragged her body as if she was a piece of ***. Her response to that? Blaming the media.

Apparenty, there is some women’s rights group that is pushing for lifetime ban on domestic violence offenders and made like 2000 phone calls to the NFL. But yeah, I am thinking the victims still seem to think that the payout is worth it. That woman still married Ray Rice after being punched. I do not think the victims actually want players to be banned permanently after such incidents, as this will lead to loss of livelihood. The tradeoff for people who marry NFL players is not the same as it is for normal women who marry some alcoholic loser.
Yeah, her only chance to cash in now is to file a civil suit against him for the assault and try to get a bunch in punitive damages and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She’ll have her own testimony working against her, but I’m sure Gloria Allred will either get that thrown out or argue that battered spouse syndrome makes it irrelevant. She might even manage to get a few bucks out of the NFL to go away.

She was crying yesterday about how the media ruined their lives. A) Your fiance knocked you out in an elevator and dragged your body caveman style through a hallway. B) You stayed with him to get your hands on his money and now that he’s out of the NFL for life, you’re stuck with an abusive asshole.
