Raymond James

Anyone ever interviewed with them? This is a Canadian office.

They have offices in Canada? I know one of the VP’s of wealth management (manager). I would never work at RayJ

Is this for FA or another sort of role?

banking, analyst.

They’re hiring, they’ve been getting slammed. At least in my area. They’re based in Tampa IIRC and, not to be a dick, but are seen as kind of a sh!tty IB.

Definitely pursue it and take it if offered, assuming you do not have offers from other banks. I don’t know much about their banking teams specifically, but they do have some pretty good research analysts and my impression as a consumer of their research is that the firm has been getting stronger over the last 5-10 years. There are worse places to start.

Go over to Dealbreaker and ask them. The responses would be priceless.

I would have to agree with bromion. In this job market, most would be lucky to get a job with RayJ. You can put in 2-3 years as an analyst, (maybe leave to get an MBA) and be really well positioned when/if the markets rebound.

Interesting responses. Yah I know they are based out of Tampa, FL. Also seems they are very weak in the US so you all confirmed. Odd thing is speaking to some friends in banking and at small shops, they are very respected in the MM space in Canada. Ass-Man they have offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary I believe. Thanks so far guys.

Go for it if they have weight in your region. Nothing like leveraging your resume!

I am sure the majority of the people on this forum would jump at a chance to bank with Raymond James. Plus, I would rather work in banking for Raymond James rather than some retail group.

Raymond James is a decent name in the Canadian market place, and yes, they are bigger in Canada than in the US. they’ve been poaching away few professionals from my office recently. One thing for sure, their office in Toronto is pretty pimped…probably one of the pimpest offices on the Bay Street.

(Why no apostrophe in “Hortons”, by the way - is that a Canadian thing?)

The dude’s name was “Tim Horton”. Maybe there was more than one Tim Horton involved, in which case I’d have thought it would be “Tims Horton”. At least in the US that is.

so, there is more than one Raymond Jame

It’s a little known fact that Raymond Jame was a big movie star in 1940s Puerto Rico. That was his stage name - real name was Ramon Santiago (Pescera Fulano de Culo).

RJ is known for its research. It covers more companies in North America tha anyone else and often finishes in the top 5/10 in both the states and Canada. also, #1 in client satisfaction two years running in Canada. RJ is not well-known in Canada but is of the highest quality in wealth management and research. Investment banking is something that we’re just getting into and developing, especially in Canada. Kind of a natural move considering we cover more mining and oil companies than most… you can approach the opportunity from two angles: either a) treat it as a foot in the IB door or b) treat it as an opportunity to move up faster than anywhere else due to its small size. I’m assuming its in the Calgary office…

you said “we”. So you work for RayJay?
