Reasons I hate the Swiss

  1. Being neutral is one thing. But playing both sides during WWII for their own profit is pretty crappy. Being Nazi bankers is about as bad as being Nazis. Plus the the world had to put their nuts in a vice for them to give up their plunder after the war was over. 2. “Swiss Bank Accounts” is used for MONEY LAUNDERING and TAX EVASION. This funds terrorists, drug cartels, and @sshole billionaires who don’t want to pay their taxes. 3. That freakin “Swiss Watches” question on the LII exam f’d me in the A big time. Stupid question. Plus the question itself shows the the Swiss are involved in trade manipulation by proping up their own watch industry. 4. Swiss cheese sucks. I’m not sure if it comes from Switzerland but I think its the only cheese I hate. Signed TheBlackMan. .

We have a restaurant called Swiss Chalet in Canada. Seriously, it’s awesome.

they weep when they lose the aussie open.

Where are you located, I frequent the Quebec City area and they’ve closed a few in the area over the past few years. Too bad. …also, Swiss Miss isn’t bad (the hot chocolate, not the coked out tennis player).

At least with American cheese, I can get a whole slice of cheese.

Different place then what I’m thinking of then. The places in QC were called ‘Chalet Suisse’ and they were upscale fondue restaurants. That was some good food.

Swiss Chalet is basically the same as St Hubert and Scores. Why anyone would go to a restaurant and PAY for chicken is beyond me. You can cook that stuff on a grill in 5 minutes and it tastes exactly the same.

Matt, you and I have a problem.

There’s also a Susse Chalet chain of motels in the US. Somon heer coodnt spel.

I hope that point 1.) and 2.) are things you wrote with your brain shut down. Start thinking and get out of the trailer. IMHO stuff like this doesn’t belong in this forum. I sometimes feel bad about the north american ethnocentricity of this forum and the whole CFA/Schweser. The world’s a bit broader… And yes, I am Swiss. And I like cheese and chocolate

I’d prefer to hear more about point number 2 as point 1 has been historically established. The UBS concession today to release names is NOT a good start.

I think there is no need to debate point 1.) or 2.). The thing to debate is how to live a life in a reflective manner. I just feel a bit bad about reading such brainless stuff. I think you can do better than that. Whether UBS did a good job is very debatable. But we cannot rule out any major player in the financial world with certainty who is not exposed to any sort of semi-legal or unethical behaviour. Furhtermore, differences in legal and tax systems are capitalized all over the world. Is that right or wrong? Why are so many MNE headquartered in Switzerland? Is this unethical or smart? Is it right or wrong? What about the rest of the countries providing benefits for MNEs or HNWIs? What about Delaware? To make this clear, I don’t want to be in anyway patriotic or protective. I only want ppl switching their brains on before posting stuff on this forum.

I love swiss cheese… especially on a Ruben.

FWIW, my cousin works at a swiss bank, and there is much more vigilance about possible transactions that may have corrupt or terrorist sources. His life has been threatened several times in the course of his legal obligations, and he’s not one who seeks out that kind of excitement. Swiss banks are certainly more secretive than most, but the extreme secrecy is, AFAIK, more the stuff of history and mystery novels. As for the Nazi stuff. That was a different generation, and there’s plenty of shame to go around the world in that time. Let’s evaluate the present generation on its own merits. Have you ever had good Emethaller? Goes great in fondue.

I’m a camembert man myself

cjones65 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I’m a camembert man myself Oh for god’s sake…let’s not drag the french into this too. Merde alors.

the swiss’ choice to remain neutral was a complete no brainer. hmmm, be neutral or become a german territory, hmmm, hard choice. and as for the banking issue, judge lest we be judged in that. we basically sold out our own people’s futures to make a buck so why wouldn’t they make a buck with little risk. its the government’s job to stop crime, not bank CEOs’

I’m with MattLikesAnalysis. What the Swiss did was a no brainer. The Swiss weren’t alone there, by the way. The Vatican decided that they didn’t like the idea of the Nazis displacing the Pope and replacing him with a proxy. So they decided to watch out for their own asses also.
