“The Rise of Skywalker is possibly worse than any prior Star Wars “episode.” It ends a legendary franchise with a thud while denying this new trilogy its artistic reason for existence. It represents the cultural theft of Star Wars from today’s kids by today’s arrested-development-stricken adults.”
Watchu think about this, G? Did comercialization and wokeness steal your childhood? Also, the emperor’s first name is “Sheev”. Who knew?
Even the bad guys at new Star Wars is weak. The empire was huge and controlled everyrhing. The first order was just an outer world warlord that is small and rising. A rising threat snuffed before anything serious.
I generally agree, except for that whole part about destroying an entire galaxy and almost wiping out the Rebels/Resistance completely. (Two things the Empire never did.)
yea except the resistance is leia’s pet project and is considered tiny comparred to the entire rebel alliance. when i think of the resistance i think of the korean war with the south korean repping them. the rebel alliance is more like the allied powers in ww2.
the starkiller base is equivalent to north korea getting an icbm and destroying the united nations in new york. devastating sure, but it was more an act of terrorism. the empire owned everything. the death star alone had more troops than the entire first order.
I just want to know how everyone f’cked up so badly. In the end of Return of the Jedi, they showed the whole Galaxy celebrating, even on Coruscant. So, how is it that the Rebel Alliance are later downgraded to a small “Resistance”? Leia must be an incompetent leader. She doesn’t even enforce a dress code among her senior military staff.
The Empire clearly didn’t have a good business continuity plan either. Just because Palpatine died, the whole organization was usurped by some child soldiers and a random Hugh Hefner kind of guy. What if he had a heart attack or something?
Overall, I’m not sure what the point of the story is for the new trilogy of movies. Even the prequels had a good purpose, like it showed how the force got out of balance or something, and then it became resolved in Episode 6. However, in Episodes 7-9 it’s just some poorly written new characters doing things we don’t care about. That, and beloved old characters becoming old and bitter, and killed in humiliating ways.
After that “thing” they call the TLJ, I promised myself I would not see another Disney led Star Wars movie in theaters. Think I made the right call. Mandalorian is decent, but I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to screw that up too. The franchise has really been damaged.
