Sectional Minimum Passing Score (MPS)

Here’s a question I hope I get an answer to, because I’ve tried real hard and no one is ever sure of it. So I’d like to know, whether one can manage 70%+ in say 8 of the 10 sections on the Level I exam, and score miserably in 2 - say Derivatives and Economics - with ~30%. Will that person pass? Meaning, is the person required to cross the MPS threshold in those 2 topics?

No

Cool. Thanks for your response!

The only thing that matters is whether your final score is > the Minimum Passing Score. It used to be the case that if you were right on the bubble, they’d put greater weight on the Ethics section. But I don;t know if that’s still the case.

If you have to bomb one section, Derivatives or Alt Inv would be the way to go - only 5% and 3% weight on the exxam.

No, you could get 0% in a particular section and still pass if your performance in the other sections is strong enough to get your total score above the MPS.
