Series 7....... Anyone?

I know this isn’t the right place, but you guys are all that i know at AF.

Has anyone taken this exam? I’ve received a huge binder with the materials. Do i just go through it like a CFA book?

Thanks!

Yep, and the same thinking applies, practice tests, practice tests, practice tests. Go through the material once then do a ton of questions.

Since you’re in the L3 forum, I assume you’ve passed L1 and L2. It’s been nearly a decade since I sat for it, but compared to L2 it’s a breeze; I’d actually say the Series 7 is easier than L1.

Edit: I see you’re a Charterholder – you’ll be fine reading it over like the CFA. I’d say you’ll be suprised at how easy it is. The 66, on the other hand, is shockingly deceptive.

What are the most important Series to pass after the CFA?

hah… i’m not sure there is a “important” one… i have to take 3 total, required by my company. Series 7 i believe is the big one, since im taking that one first.

Series 7 was a piece of cake…you could probably pass it with only a weekend’s worth of studying. I also took the Series 63 and 3 exams and those were probably even easier. Series 3 was a little tricky but neither of them require more than a week’s worth of study tops.

As a CFA charterholder, you should be able to pass series 7 in your sleep.

I have seen the series 79 on some profiles.

How important is that and how hard compared to the series 7?

The Series 7, 63, etc. is only important if you will require it for future employment. Look at the specific jobs that you are interested in to see if they will require these licenses before starting. Also, some companies will pay for the exam registration fees and allow you to get certified in the first few weeks on the job. The tests are very easy compared to CFA Level I, but they do require studying as the material is quite different in some areas. I read all of the prep books word for word, took practice tests, and made a 96% on the 7 and a 90% on the 63. There is no reason to over-prepare and spend a lot of time on these. Looking back, I could have saved a weekend and studied a lot less, as there really isnt much need in getting a high score above the passing rate.

I passed the Series 63 by one question. Studied the perfect amount!

the 7 is a piece of cake. i didnt crack one book open…all i did was do all the practice questions that came with the material on a cd rom and i breezed through the exam.
