Series 79 Exam

I’m registered to take the series 79 exam in a few weeks and was wondering if I should focus on that 100% or can split my time between CFA L3 and S79. Does anyone have experience with the series 79?

dude you go a lot of time until June. and since your series 79 is most likely needed for your JOB, take the few weeks and focus on passing that first

By the way LilJamieDimon, it appears that your info below your name would seem the imply that you have your charter…If you don’t, which it would appear that you do not since you’re inquiring about L3, you may want to update this to say “Level 3 Candidate” and not “CFA”. Would hate to see you get hit with an ethics violation.

thanks a million, palacio. i’m touched by your concern.

i updated it to say candidate just for you; however, the options are not very user-friendly or clear. i am a caia charter holder and cfa level III candidate. kindly tell me how to adjust my account settings to reflect that and i happily will.

I found Passed Level 2 to be a good compromise as a Level 3 CFA Candidate and FRM & CAIA Charterholder.

you guys are gluten for punishment.

That’s hilarious!

We should insist on this being a gluten-free website.

gluten is now considered far worse than gluttony and has therefore replaced it in the list of 7 deadly sins.

79 requires a very focused effort because it is treacherously full of in-one-ear-out-the-other minutiae that I guarantee you would will forget totally by the first bathroom break. For the 79, the best advice is to really cram hard for a week (so you keep your retention) and then hit the test. DO NOT distract yourself with the CFA in anyway, as your brain will eject the 79 stuff and replace it with the CFA stuff and the 79 is an exam where you just simply have to have memorized the right answer (is it five or six days between x and y?, literally that type of bawl your eyes out question where you cannot reason your way to an answer, just plain black or white).

Repeat: you cannot do both. Do the 79 and do not interrupt with other study.
