How hard are these tests compared to Series 7, 63, and the CFA exams? Does anyone know of any good study guides? I’m thinking about taking them if they are relatively easy.
never heard of them… sound like a hoax
They’re legit, but I’m not in research so I haven’t taken them.
I’ll be taking the 86 soon…similar to the cfa, but not as hard. Same maddeningly vague questions, study guide errors, etc. I could be wrong, but I think your firm has to sponsor you in order to take them. And you might have to pass the 7 first.

Yes, CFA L2 will give you an exemption from the 86 which is the longer (and probably harder) of the two. That is what I did, and then I took the 87. The 87 is all about the regulations and is similar in that regard to the 63.
So if you pass LII can you list 87 on your b.card?
I took them both in Feb/March of this year - had the “standard” material book with the rook (chess piece) Just read the material and take/read through the practice exams Keep in mind the pass rate is a little different - I think its 74% for the 87 or something. So when you get a 75 on the practice and feel real confident… study a bit more
I agree with JasonU. I took these exams in 07’, and the 86 should not be difficult after CFA L1. Just read the prep and give yourself a good 3-4 weeks before taking it. In my opinion, it is more difficult than Series 7, 63, or 87, since you are required to be more attentive to detail because of calculation, so just get in the habit of practicing. Good luck!

Once you have the 87 and either pass or get exempt from 86, you are a “Registered Research Analyst” with Finra, similar to being a Registered Representative after passing the 7. But I don’t know why you’d put any of that on your b-card.
