I am a mechanichal engineer who passed CFA level 1 on first try last december. I wanted to pass CFA level 1 to start applying for financial positions as a way of career change. So far, that didnt work and I am not sure if passing level 2 will help.
I appreciaite the feedback from the expereinced people on this board.
In reality, I wouldn’t be surprised if in another year, you posted that you passed L2 which didn’t help that much either, and are asking if L3 will help.
I am sure many candidates have the same problem, but my answer to this is the same to everyone.
If you do it based on wanting to switch out of your current career, you can probably widen your search and see if you can get into any other fields first.
If you do it because you are interested in finance, then it doesn’t really matter what comes out of it, i am sure you will enjoy the process anyway.
There is no guarentee, and you can’t expect this to happen like “if you go to medical school --> become a doctor”
So if you think you will regret studying if you don’t get a job in finance at the end, i think you probably should not proceed.
