All kinds of rumbling out there about pro sports being played in empty stadiums/golf courses.
I don’t know about this. Seems like the players will lose intensity and the quality will suffer. On the other hand it’s like f-it, just give it to me anyways. But you’d almost need canned cheering, no? Picture watching Seinfeld without the laughter. (Although it worked splendidly for Curb, but that’s an anomaly). Im torn on this one and it may become reality soon.
PGA tour is floating the idea of beginning the season in the next month or two without spectators.
MLB is wondering if players will take a pay cut to play in vacant stadiums.
NBA will do what they want.
NHL: who cares.
NFL wouldn’t be remotely the same without fans losing their mind.
And if on the off chance you like soccer, what’s a match without the deep roar of men’s voices collectively singing something that nobody can understand?
But if I have to stay home for the entire summer watching eerily quiet sports I’ll be forced to troll Charlie Works to an early grave. And even I’m not that cruel.
Well you’re not wrong, but it would kind of suck. I’m not a huge sports fan but I definitely enjoy watching golf majors and football Sundays. Plenty of other people would also care.
I suppose you could say the same thing about just about anything right? I mean at the end of the day most everything is irrelevant, unless you’re doing something truly epic.
It’s been done before, on occasion, usually as a penalty for e.g. British soccer hoodlums.
At least it will get sports on TV.
Not sure what sports they could do.
Safety of the fans is covered by having empty stadia, but safety of the players?
Golf would be safe as it’s easy to maintain social distancing, as would tennis where you’re on opposite sides of a net.
But basketball?
That’s a good call. I lost several years of my life playing COD Modern Warfare back in 2010 or whenever that game was in. Had to give the system away due to addiction issues. Might be time to dust off the skills.
