Stalla Practice Exams the Anti Book 7

Seriously if anyone wants to feel good about themselves then may I suggest the Stalla practice exams. Book 7 averaged in the 60’s, CFAI practice, high to mid 70’s, Stalla 90%. It is the exact polar opposite of the Schweser book. If you feel like you are prepared like me and want to practice basic concepts and dont want to get side tracked or completely distracted by the ridiculousness that is book 7, I highly recommend it.

Yes, I thought Stalla exams at L1 were harder than the real thing (mostly because it was too hard to finish in the time available). Stalla exams at L2 were easier than the real thing. Definitely go take the CFAI exams, and don’t take Stalla exams as representative. Stalla’s exams aren’t all that bad, but they’re not sufficient.

I agree, I’ve taken a ton of exams at this point, ALL CFAI (mock and sample), Schweser Book 6, Part of Book 7 as well as Stalla Mock Exam and Seminar. At this point I think that Book 7 if counter productive as I am a firm believer that if you understand the basic concepts well you should pass, I think Book 7 is great in that it is so hard but they take calculations way further than CFAI will. One example is NOPAT, real NOPAT has a ton of adjustments and the Book 7 exam is correct in their NOPAT example but for the exam I’m pretty certain EBIT x (1-t) will do. My strategy at this point is to stay calm, cool and collected because I find that when I get low scores, it is not because I dont know the material but because I either dont read carefully or get nervous. Book 7 reinforces the getting nervous and second guessing for me.

don’t be dissin’ the stalla exams. I did exam 1 am and pm and I felt so good. Last thing I need is ppl saying it was too easy :frowning:

I got the Stalla exams recently and just did 1AM/PM. It is definitely too easy. I would say a lot of qbank questions are harder than these. Schweser Volume 1 was definitely much better. The CFAI samples and mocks obviously are the best. I won’t be doing anymore craptastic Stalla. I will stick with CFAI problems and Qbank.

Yes, that is my strategy this last week as well, Qbank all the way. Taken all the exams I can, I’m tempted to do some more book 7 but I think Qbank is better - book 7 is no good at this point (I love that they made it challenging but I bet that the 95% score for that would be in the 80’s and that a passing score would be low 60’s). And, like I said, confidence is key at this point. Thinking that you dont know something will make you get things wrong, knowing that you know most of the material will let you take a deep breath and dig in your brain and hopefully pass.
