Standards of Practice Handbook

Hey everyone, I’m a long time lurker but am now starting to study for June Level 1 and hoped you guys can help me with a minor question. I’m using Schweser Notes, which recommends to read the Standards of Practice Handbook 9th Edition, as well as the Code and Standards. From your experience, was it necessary to go over these two as well as the Schweser summaries of them, or was the latter sufficient? Thanks!

definitely stick to the CFAI material for Ethics. You’ll need to read it a couple of times (especially closer to exam time)

I’m studying for June 2009 too. Just read CFAI and the handbook, they are not that thick, and there are many optional pages. I don’t know about you, but when I actually started reading Ethics I found that it was nowhere as boring as what some people made me believe it was.

Download and read the actual Standards. Do this now and right before exam time and take as many questions as you can on Ethics. It’s the only way to really nail all the little nuances.

Thanks for your advice guys - now that I’ve read through the handbook, it seems like the CFAI is an identical duplicate - am I blind and there is indeed extra material in the CFAI? Aside from the GIPS of course…

Oh and one question : on page 20 of the CFAI, the law that states “Member resides in LS country, does business in MS country; LS law applies, but it states that law of locality where business is conducted governs.” Is “LS law applies” a typo??? Thanks!

Wasn’t that difficult or boring. I plan on reading again closer to the exam date (like 4 - 5 days closer).
