State Street / ssga

anyone here have any recent experience working for state street or ssga? I am contemplating an offer from them and would love to get an inside perspective. is this a place where the ambitious can grow / develop / earn - or is this a place where careers go to die?

whats the position? I have a few friends that work there within high yield and bank loan funds.

it’s a vp role in the corporate finance dept

" this a place where careers go to die?" This is what I’ve heard from others who work there

I know a few guys that work there. They all like the place. Good corp culture and all that, but not a lot in the way of huge upside salary potential for most employees there.

STT is huge, its the 2nd biggest money manager in the world and 2nd biggest custodian. State Streer Bank is the custody part and it sucks. BO for life. Clearing, accounting, reporting, recon, etc. Big dogs get paid well but everybody else doesn’t. SSgA is the AM arm, they run mostly index strategies for insitutional investors. Rebalancing portfolio to benchmark and miminize tracking error or create enchance indexes. Pay is on par with 2nd tier asset management firms in Boston. State Street Global Markets is the sec lending, fx, and network crossing trading within SSgA funds. Pay is above SSB but below SSgA.
