Street of Walls

Has anybody taken the Street of walls assessment test? I had an interview a couple of weeks ago and now they want me to take this test to compare the candidates. Thanks!

tried practice questions and got an average score of 41% ( without prep…)

thats probably bad ha

I think you’re quoting the average for all takers @ 41% (I think it’s literally impossible to get 41% on practice part since it’s only 12 questions).

I didn’t prep for it at all but took it when I was def. wide awake and alert (weekend morning without boozing previous night!!!). There are clearly some issues with the format but at the same time it’s kind of tough for them to do a more thorough job without making it 3 hours long instead of 1 so I’ll take it. Might’ve missed some questions due to the fact that they give you a time limit on every single question so I don’t know if my 1 second left submissions actually made it correctly. You have to upload your resume to get an actual score.

FWIW I got a 70 and was “suggested by an employer to apply for a position” within 3 days. Currently have 2-3 yrs experience. Somewhere on their forums it says that 80+ is ideal for experienced candidates with under 60% not being good.

Hi, my name is Adam Goldstein and I am the co-founder of Street of Walls. We work with many employers to help them find top talent - including investment banks, hedge funds, and private equity funds. My company is affiliated with NYU as it was born out of the NYU tech incubator (http://www.poly.edu/business/incubators/varick/companies#streetofwalls). If you are asked to take any of our assessments from an employer, feel free to call them up and verify that they are working with us. Please take note that you should call the HR department specifically for that job (ie Equity Research or Investment Banking) as many of the banks have fragmented departments and do not communicate with each other. Please see our FAQs to understand your percentile ranking (http://www.streetofwalls.com/faqs/). Many of the employers post jobs via schools, linkedin, and other sources.

Please feel free to ask any questions

Adam, did you think up the name “Street of Walls” while stoned? Because I think you did.

Update: This site seems to be a waste of time other than gauging your relative skill on a variance-filled test (can’t be anything else if it takes an hour). Some employers seem to use it but it doesn’t seem worth taking without being propmted to by an employer. I think they use some hedge funds (which seem to never hire) on linkedin to try to lure people to take it (like me). I believe some users have said that the poster on linkedin was actually them and not the hedge fund itself.

But I guess I’m in the 90%+ percentile range??? Whatever that means when the test takers come from different level backgrounds.
