when looking at the t-distirbution chart to find your critical value for a two tailed test. Do you divide the level of significance by two? example, if the level of significance is 10% do you look at 0.05?
It depends what the table specifies. Usually it’s pretty clear about that in the header. Are you looking at the t-distribution in the back of the Schweser text? For example, this table actually has the 1 tailed and 2 tailed significance along the top (pg 357 in book 1). You’ll notice that: *** For a particular critical value, the level of significance for a one tailed test is half that for a two tailed test. *** For example, a critical value of 1.812 where the degrees of freedom is 10 corresponds to a 10% level of significance for a two tailed test, and a 5% level of significance for a one tailed test. Just be careful to know what the chart you are looking at is representing.
