Sorry for the duplication of this post but wasn’t sure where to put it.
I am planning to take a buy-side equity analyst job reporting to the CIO and will be focusing on the technology sector. I work in a small firm currently with no formal process for idea generation and no focus on a particular sector. In fact, the stocks that we have invested in are all part of the sp500 and the analysis was more quantitative and didn’t really work. Does anyone on AF delve in tech stocks? I would appreciate some tips on how to generate ideas and what kind of models to use for technology. I am a CFA level III candidate and have an MBA so I have the book knowledge on DCF and other valuation methodologies but from what I have been told, the real-life process is different from what I have learned. Any help is welcome.
